We would like to share the story behind the entrepreneurs of the well known Laughing Pear Soap Co. Amy and Borden scott, the amazing parent duo who've made it possible. It all started back in 2011 when they decided to make soaps the old fashion way. By using old traditional method, they were able to create simple yet complex products free of harsh chemicals. In other words, why complicate the process when they used to make it back in the old days with barely any tools. Their soaps are made from a base of coconut, palm, and soy oils, following a proprietary recipe that has been on the market for over 40 years. Now if you ask us, knowing the recipes is that old, it must be a good one!

Behind the scene: The workplace

What helped their business is the fact that Amy holds a BSc in chemistry. It means that she truly understands how ingredients interacts with each other. She is able to inform everyone about why they use specific ingredients and why they prefer their production methods. Anyone can make a soap, but being able to truly know the science behind has truly helped her business grow. On top of that, anyone making soaps/cosmetics to sell are required to adhere to a bunch of labeling requirements. That includes using INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) standards to list ingredients on every product sold. That means every ingredient gets listed by the same name on every product, everywhere, by every producer. It's one of the ways we keep consumers safe, by clearly disclosing every ingredient. There's truly more that meets the eyes!

Behind the scene: How their soaps are made

One question that they receive all the time is how do they get the nice beveled edge on the soaps. The reason is quite simple actually. They use a vegetable peeler on EVERY SINGLE BAR. It rounds off the sharp edges and gives them a chance to look at every bar before packaging them. The more you know!
